Free Online Series on Veterans' Benefits Starts Friday: Please Share

NYSOFA reminds the network and partners that the first in a series of free online courses on Veterans' benefits starts Friday, January 7, at 11 a.m. Please share this information on social media and other public outreach encouraging Veterans to enroll.

NYSOFA, the Association on Aging in New York, and New York State Division of Veterans’ Services have partnered with GetSetUp — a peer-to-peer online learning community — to offer this online series that runs weekly throughout January and early February.

How to Access the Series

Veterans can access any of the sessions in the series by clicking the link below and using the partner coupon code NYSTATE at login.

This coming Friday's class is called "MythBusters! Getting rid of the mythology that has prevented you from getting the Veterans’ benefits that you rightfully earned." Is combat service required to get any Veterans’ benefits? If a Veteran passes away before the VA decides their claim, does the surviving spouse get any benefits? These are just a few of the questions that the New York State Division of Veterans' Services will answer.

Refer a Friend

Please also note that a new referral feature has been added to the GetSetUp platform, allowing a friend or caregiver to easily sign up a friend remotely to try GetSetUp courses. To do so, visit https://dost.gsudevelopment.com/, select “booking for someone else,” enter an e-mail address or phone number, and create an account using the NYSTATE partnership code.
