Classes/Activities

All classes require registration, Center membership is required: must show current membership card at registration. Please feel free to come and observe any class. Refunds for missed classes must be requested from the instructor.

Drawing in May

Wednesdays 2:00 - 3:30 pm

 Classes: 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28

Instructor:  Wendy Carroll- Retired Art Teacher

Suitable for beginners.  Learn to draw real objects as you see them. Various drawing methods will be explored to develop your perceptual and drawing skills.  Information about types of drawing media paper and supplies will also be covered 

4 sessions - $40.00 (Materials included)

Minimum enrollment 6, maximum 12.

Diamond Painting - Butterfly

Thursday, May 15, 1:30 pm

Diamond painting uses an applicator to apply sparkling resin rhinestones, one by one, on an adhesive colored canvas painting.  All materials will be provided.

Sign up in advance at the front desk.  Cost: $6.

Zentangle Art Drawing Class

May 12 at 1 pm

June 23 at 1 pm

Zentangle is a mindful art form that focuses on four strokes that create elaborate artistic designs.  It mostly consists of drawing using pencil, paper, and then shading.  Materials are provided by the instructor.  No prior art training necessary!  You will leave the class with at least one completed.  Go to zentangle.com if you you'd like more information about the Zentangle method.  $20 per person for each class.  Cash or check payable to instructor Linda Fasano.  (You can also purchase and additional beginner Zentangle kit for $20, which includes a Micron pen, pencil, blending tool, additional paper tiles.)

Driver Safety Course

Tuesday/Wednesday, May 20 & 21, 2-5 pm (Class is full)

Tuesday/Wednesday, June 17 & 18, 2-5 pm

Tuesday/Wednesday, July 22 & 23, 2-5 & pm

This program may reduce your auto insurance cost.  Class consists of two three hour sessions held on two consecutive days.  Senior Center membership is not required.  Payment is due at the sign-up. Please make check payable to Armand Canestraro.  No cash.  Checks are not cashed until the class is held.  Participants must register in person at the front desk. 

No phone reservations are accepted.

Greeting Card Class

​Come join us as we make 4 greeting cards with envelopes, birthday, sympathy, holiday, etc.  Cost is $15.00 and includes all supplies (Please note price increase).  Please sign up by the previous Friday and only sign up for one class at a time.

English Country Dancing

The primary goal of English country dancing has always been to have fun.  A simple walking step will get you  through most dances.  No experience or partner needed.

Cornhole\Bocce

Tuesdays, 10 am

Bocce should start up again toward the end of May. Cornhole will continue in May but move outside at the same time as bocce on Tuesday mornings.  Please sign up at the front desk if you are interested and would like to receive updates.

Music Jam

2nd Thursday of Month, 1:30 pm

Feel free to join in whether you play an instrument or just want to listen.  If you enjoy acoustic msic stop by the jam session! Looking for volunteers to set up ahead of time.  Please come at 12:30 if you can help.  Next dates:  5/8, 6/12 at 2 pm as part of the ice cream social.

Knitting 

Tuesdays, 1:30 pm

Join us anytime! If you are a knitter or crocheter, stop by to meet some new friends.  Great chance to visit while working on your own projet. Want to learn either? We will help you get started.  If there is enough interest, we may even have a learn to knit class.

Paint with Peggy 

Peggy, a certified Alesander Art Instructor and Wilson Bickford Painting Partner, provides everything to complete the oil painting: canvas, brushes palette of paints, etc. Then, through classroom instruction,  each person created their own unique oil painting.  Email Peggy with questions at: paintwithpeggy @gmail.com or call/text 518-925-2238. Just bring a box (eg. clean pizza box) to take home your completed painting.  Beginners welcome!

Building Wooden Models

Tuesdays, 10:30 am

Building scale models anywhere from a few inches to almost four feet long.  I display mine in glass cases, but they can be displayed on a mantle piece, or anywhere you would like a beautiful decoration.  Anyone interested feel free to call or text

Country Line Dancing

Fridays, 1:15 - 2:30  

This is a fun class for anyone to get started in Country Line Dancing.  Steps will be broken down and taught at an easy pace.  Dances are done to fun upbeat music!

Senior Center Photographers

2nd and 4th Thursdays, 10 am

Activities include taking photo trips to local sites, sharing slides and prints, demonstrating the capabilities of a photo-editing program on the Center's computer, and discussing any aspect of film or digital photography.

Card Playing

Mondays, 12:30 pm

We play bridge, pinochle, canasta, hand-and-foot card games and more. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends. Generally, foursomes are established and seldom have openings for drop-in players. If interested, stop by the front desk and add your name to the list of new interested players, indicating the game(s) of your interest. Then follow up with people on the list to establish new groups of play.

Duplicate Bridge

Oil, Acrylic & Art

Certified by the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the instructor, Dani Morette provides her expertise as she guides you through your current piece of art. Whether a beginner or an experienced painter, you can learn new techniques or brush up on what your already know. Bring your own supplies for your intended new creation. Paint whatever you desire.
